Personal Growth Is Optional…It Is A Choice

Life is totally dynamic.  God intended it to be that way.  It is a pattern that is included in all of His Creation.  Everything in life is either growing or dying.  Life is either moving forward or moving backward.  There is no such thing as standing still,…as maintaining,…as holding your own.  No, you are either becoming greater than you were yesterday or you are diminishing.  Life, you see, is completely dynamic.  This is the very reason why change is always inevitable.  It will always be happening.  There is nothing you or I can do to stop change from occurring.  Change, whether it is  in an increasing or a decreasing capacity, will always be constantly in process in every person’s life.  Change is inevitable.

The ironic thing about change as a given thing is that God also created man who has within his created being a great dislike for change.  People just don’t like for things to be continually changing or being different than they were yesterday.  Such continuous change is upsetting.  It makes everyone very uncomfortable and often times pressured.  They all seem to want to fight change,…to keep from having to change.  I suspect the reason is that it takes a lot of work to change, rearrange things, gain new knowledge and understanding and then use this new information to move forward in life, while full well knowing that there will be more change required tomorrow.  Life is a never ending cycle of change.  May I suggest to you that you should Get Used To it!

The more radical the change and the more the change directly affects you personally, the more you will fight against this change.  That just seems to be human nature.  Author Leo Tolstoy once wrote:  “Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”  Everyone in the world has to deal with change and its inherent inconvenience.  May I tell you that nothing can be done to avoid it while you are living.

On the contrary, personal growth is optional.   You can choose to grow by your own volition or you can refuse to grow and fight against any growth that is or might be attempting to occur.  Just always remember this Truth of Life.  People who are unwilling to grow will never reach their full potential.  As a consequence, they will miss out on so very much blessing that otherwise would have been theirs.

I have a very serious question I would like to ask you and I desire you to honestly answer it in great detail.  How have you changed…lately?… say in the last week or the last month? How about in the last year?  I want you to be very specific in your answers.

I tell you the truth,...growth is a choice.  It arises from decisions that you make that really make a difference in your life and how you live it.

Personal growth comes in many different forms and lessons.  The person you will become in the next five years totally depends upon the books you read and the people with whom you associate.  Those two entities make up for the most part your mental environment.  Throughout recorded history a documented and agreed upon fact of life is that man will become a product of his mental environment.

You as a human being will learn the success principles of life and the other “secrets” of working with people from listening to and learning from books, C.D.’s, videos, seminars, motivational conferences, and mostly from being mentored (counseled) or coached by a successful individual who knows these secrets, has applied them in his own personal life, has achieved great and lasting success….and…..who is willing to teach these life lessons to you.

By diligently seeking and finding just such a person as I have described, you then put yourself “light-years” ahead of all other people who are seeking the same levels of success that you are seeking.  There simply will be no competition for you.  No one will be ahead of you.

Now comes the test of your personal grit and gumption.  What are you going to do with this new found information and power?  How are you going to use it.? How will you choose to employ it?  How long are you willing to stay in total submission to your mentor?

The answers to these and other questions will surely arise as you begin your journey to success.  Your chosen work ethic, together with your daily personal growth habit, will be the final things that determine your accomplishments and your ultimate level of success.  Make wise choices!

A very wise man once told me over 36 years ago that the only difference between a millionaire and a ditch-digger is (1) how they think, and (2) how they spend their spare time and spare money.  Now that statement demands some scrutiny.  Am I saying that a person’s mental state and his chosen use of his mental and physical faculties and resources plays a large part in his financial accomplishments?  Yes, that is exactly what I am saying.  It is a true and valid statement.

The truth of the matter is that most people do not realize that highly successful and totally unsuccessful people do not differ substantially in their personal abilities.  The real variance between the two categories of people lies in their personal desires to reach their individual potential….i.e…. in their personal quest to achieve excellence in their performance and achievements.  Therefore I have to ask you this question…..How bad do you want to personally achieve a high level of excellence as regards your chosen work ethic?  Your answer will provide you a clue as to your direction towards future great, glorious, and valuable accomplishments.

Always remember this….Nothing is more effective when it comes to reaching your own potential than your commitment to achieve personal growth…..hopefully on a daily basis.

The true secret to your own future lies in what you are doing in your own daily work habits.  I highly encourage you to create and pursue a daily habit of achieving some degree of personal growth… in as many different areas as you are willing to grow.

Personal growth is optional,…it is a choice.  SO TOO IS $UCCE$$.

Peace and Love to All of You……Poppa Bear
