The Best Use of Your Life

It is Christmas Day, December 25, 2017, as I sit here at my office desk writing this article. It is late in the afternoon. The harried and busy pace of things and events is slowly beginning to wind down and slow down, at least, from the breakneck pace that they have been occurring thus far in this entire month of December. It is odd, at least to me, how there is so much to be done and readied for the “Big Day” for which all of the preparation has been taking place for almost one full year, only to come to fruition and completion in the course of a quick 24 hours. All of life appears to be cut from that same bolt of cloth. The true blessing of a great event, or person, or day passes quickly before us in 24 short hours or less after extensive, expensive, and intensive effort and resources have been expended so as to prepare for and enjoy the great event. And then, “Poof”—it is over! Maybe it does seem overwhelming or unbalanced, but only to those souls who still haven’t figured out who they really are and what they really are to do with the use of their own lives.

It is for these very reasons, purposes, and/or causes that we, as human beings, truly do need to discover our own reason or purpose as to who and why we are here on earth at this specific time and place, and for what intended or designed specific purpose. Regardless of what we think, believe, feel, or trust, no human being is an accident. No! Not one! Everything and everybody was created by a God in heaven with a specific preplanned life purpose which needs to be accomplished while they are alive on this earth.

God Almighty is indeed completely sovereign. He is in charge and in control of everybody and everything that is here on this earth. He never makes a mistake and He has you here at this precise time doing exactly what you are doing so as to complete and fulfill His mighty preplanned purpose for your life!

You may ask how do I know that? I will answer, because it is so written in the Holy Bible. It is in the Book of Ephesians, Chapter 2, verses 8—10 NKJV:

(8) “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that
not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

(9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.

(10) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for
good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should
walk in them.”

There really is a huge difference between those folks who achieve great accomplishments and who go on to become great leaders of other people within their own chosen field of endeavor, and those folks who do not become leaders of other people or even significant achievers themselves. The major difference between those who are great achievers and those aren’t lies in their personal knowing and understanding of who God really and truly is and what He has done for them personally. You see, to get the correct and righteous answers to these questions, one must go to the Source of everything that was, and is, and is to become. That is to say, The Creator of the heavens and the earth and everything else that is in and on them—that, of course, would be God Almighty!

The Creator of everything on this earth is God Almighty. The One and Only True and Real God of the Universe, the God of the Holy Bible, the same God of both the Old and New Testaments.

Within these blessed documents, The God-breathed Truths of Life are accurately and undeniably written specifically telling each of us individually how we (you and I) are to live out our life here on earth and then, after our physical deaths, how we are to continue to live on into eternity as we rule and reign forever with The Lord Jesus Christ. This knowledge is not my personal opinion. Rather it is the absolute Truth of Life, and He has personally written such answers to our lives, and given us personal instructions regarding how we are to live them,…all within a Book known as the Holy Bible.

God gave you the Book. You must choose to personally read or listen to this Book of love and instruction. You don’t know what you don’t know. So you are to read, listen, and study that which God Himself has freely given to you. So that you first know what He has given you and then you are able to apply that which you have learned!

Now the real difference between the successful people on earth and those who fail to achieve what has been prearranged for them to accomplish while they live on earth, all lies within the complete knowledge and understanding of what God has done for each of His creation. That single difference is all about the how and why you personally came to this earth. It provides the precise answers you are seeking to the two oldest questions that man has asked himself since creation: (1) What is and (2) how do I discover and use God’s Will for my own life.

Each and every human being was originally designed and engineered for greatness and success while they were within their own mother’s womb. God Almighty simply does not make any junk! He made you for greatness and significance. It is up to you as to whether or not you actually discover His Will for your life. You were created to live on this earth and accomplish precisely what God created you to do with your physical life while you lived on the earth and prepared yourself and others for a spiritual “after-life” in eternity.

God’s real Truth of Life was prepared and given to mankind so that he or she would then be able to freely use it for themselves and then give it to any and all who would desire it and seek it for themselves.

After you were born, you and every other person, began a personal quest to discover what your real God-given life purpose truly is. The fact remains that you will either discover it or you won’t. You will either come to know what His Will for your life really is sooner, or later as you live here on earth. If you fail to discover it, you will not achieve or accomplish as much as you would have achieved or accomplished had you actually discovered God’s Will for yourself!

So the question begs to be asked: How do I find God’s Will for myself?

The surprisingly simple and easy answer, seldom heard by the masses of humanity, is clear and short: Grow closer to God through establishing and developing a personal relationship with Him (The Triune Godhead!)….God, The Father, God, The Son, and God, The Holy Spirit.

No one else can or will do this for you. It is just something that an individual must do for themselves while they are alive on this earth.

Remember, you cannot develop a lasting and valuable personal relationship:

1. for another person.

2. for or with a dead person.

3. for or with a lie or half-truth.

In order to achieve this living, growing, and maturing personal relationship with the God of heaven and earth, the God of the Old and New Testaments, one must first become what is called a born-again believer in and on the person and the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The best way, I believe, that I can explain what I am talking about is through a real and true essay first written by Eugene F. Connolly (March 9, 1927—March 3, 2005). Mr. Connolly was an esteemed college instructor, educator, and author. He was a real, tried and true “Life Enricher.” This great man studied diligently and became a beloved and renown college professor. And then, using his spiritual gifts for communicating with other people—through the written and spoken word—Professor Connolly went on with his life’s plan of serving, uplifting, and enriching the lives of all the people who surrounded him and drew from his wisdom and knowledge. No matter where he was, what he was doing, how much or how little time or money he had available for his use, he always was giving of himself in the service and assistance of other people in need. His writing and speaking abilities were always expressed on and about the topics of blessing and serving other people. He always wrote about life and personal accomplishment which enriched the hearts and minds of students and strangers alike. He was an unashamed, Bible-believing, Christian Apologist. The essay I reference is entitled “The Trouble With Trot.”

This is an imaginative true tale of a real life character who prepared and educated himself and then painstakingly recorded what he learned so as help, bless, and benefit other people with his own knowledge, wisdom, and personal understanding. He learned so that he could then understand, so that he could then apply what he knew and finally taught other people what he knew and experienced through the words he used and the actions he took. His life and how he lived it truly was the epitome of the “Success Cycle of Life.”

With an interest in all things spiritual, Mr. Connolly’s focus continually remained steady and unwavering throughout all of his life and its activities. He was a visionary and dedicated family man. He always sought to profess his love for God and his recognition of the Divine Purpose in all creation. Scholarship and spirituality were close personal relatives for him. He always endeavored to live out the good life, to find real meaning, and to contribute his talents. Even as he lay in the hospital, after learning of the brain tumor that eventually ravaged his body, Mr. Connolly’s real concern was for his family and for ways to continue reaching out to others.

The great Irish author, Flannery O’Connor, one of Mr. Connolly’s favorite authors, best expressed the reason for sharing Eugene Connolly’s words of reflection and celebration when he said: “A Good Man Is Hard to Find.”

I have discovered from over seven decades of living and working with human beings here on earth, and from being a born-again Christian Believer of, on, and in the Lord Jesus Christ, for over four decades of my life— that God Almighty’s real and true purpose for each and every believer is precisely what He says it is as recorded within the pages of the Holy Scripture in the Book of 1 Thessalonians, Chapter 5, verses 12—22. NKJV:

Various Exhortations

(12) “And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor
among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish
you,

(13) and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s
sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

(14) Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly,
comfort the faint-hearted, uphold the weak, be patient
with all.

(15) See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always
pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.

(16) Rejoice always,

(17) pray without ceasing,

(18) in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in
Christ Jesus for you.

(19) Do not quench the Spirit.

(20) Do not despise prophecies.

(21) Test all things; hold fast what is good.

(22) Abstain from every form of evil.”

Always remember that your personal purpose in life here on this earth is to love and serve your own Creator God by loving and serving your fellow man.

Living is giving and the more you give, the more you shall receive!

One of my personal mentors once gave me some very sound and valuable advice. Permit me to share it with you. He said:

“The best use of your life is to so live your life, that the use of
your life will outlive your life.”
