I am totally amazed at the overt and well displayed ignorance of people, particularly well educated people, that exists in our society today. As a student of world history, I know that America and its society and culture did not get to the point it is today by our ancestors being totally inflexible and unwilling to change as it was needed. Change is the life blood of all human advancement. Change is indeed a true fact of life. Everything in all of God’s Creation is continually changing, all of the time. As a matter of fact, there are only three things in this life we live today that do not change: God, Sin, and Human Nature. Everything else in life is always changing and either growing or dying. Life indeed is totally dynamic. It is not ever just standing still….holding its own.
The same is true in human activities and business environments. Nothing stays static and unmoving except for the three exceptions as mentioned above.
All too often in our society today, people seem to place foolish and unreasonable limitations and other restrictions wholly on themselves. They seem to do so all the while unwittingly thinking that such limits will not cause any harm, injuries, and/or other type losses….Not so!
Growth is Happiness. Happiness is a direct result of greater and more productivity.
The more productive a person is, the greater will be their personal happiness.
Productivity is the direct result of increased focused performance.
Sadly, most people today are looking for more and more abundant simple and easier quick ways achieve greater productivity. They seem to want to shy away from hard and continuous labor or work ethic. Just think for a moment where we would be as a nation today if our forefathers would have operated on that type of work ethic and mind set.
Honest and righteous success is a long term process. It does not happen overnight. There are no real shortcuts to the achieving of real and lasting success.
Self imposed limitations are the forerunner of long term failure.
Diversity of people, time involvement, talents and abilities, and personalities and personal styles of leadership abilities all play into the finished recipe for the accomplishing of personal individual success.
“No Limits” should be the mantra for the greatest achievers.
The worst of all self imposed restrictions and limitations is the most often used excuse or reason as to why we are supposed to do the things required of us by our accepted authorities…The restriction goes like this: “That is just the way we have always done things around here.”
How simple minded and foolish is that type of thinking and working manner and way. Creativity has always come from those men and women who do not stupidly do things the same way over and over year after year just because that is the way they have always done them.
If nothing changes within the confines of an individual’s mind, then nothing will ever change outside one’s mind in the physical world in which they work and live.
Indeed: If Nothing Changes, Then Nothing Changes……
I recently received an E-mail from a close personal friend that hits the nail I am attempting to drive right on the head with its message. Please permit me to share this correspondence with you in the hopes that it will jog some thoughts loose in your own mind.
Unrestricted and unencumbered lifestyle and work performance have always been the mainstays of increased performance and productivity.
No man on this earth has ever been able to get all of the participants in any given work task or assignment to do everything that is required in the exact same manner and way. Even the Lord, Jesus Christ, was unable to do it with His original twelve disciples.
God Almighty simply did not design and create man to be a mindless, thoughtless follower.
Creativity does not flow well when it is confined and restricted.
While it is true that people and their efforts can be more easily controlled and directed when they all are doing the same thing in the same manner and way, the bad and evil results brought about by the lack of creativity and its related performance and productivity far outweighs the benefits of controlling group efforts. Diversity is truly the key to greater growth. God simply never created man to be a robot of sorts and a body to do the same thing in the same way as do all others with whom a person is working.
Individuality of performance always yields greater dividends and benefits than does the mob mentality.
While this “Experiment” shared below was not proven to be accurately sourced with proper documentation, it is presented here as an example of group thinking and robotic action and the sad results they always produce.
The leader is the one who is responsible for the overall growth of the organization being led.
THE EXPERIMENT
A small group of scientists placed five monkeys in a cage and in the middle of this cage they stood a ladder with bananas on top.
Every time a monkey went up the ladder, the scientists soaked the rest of the monkeys with cold water.
After a short while, every time a monkey went up the ladder, the other monkeys began to beat up the animal on the ladder.
After some longer time, no monkey dare go up the ladder regardless of the temptation.
Scientists then decided to substitute one of the caged monkeys with a new and unknowing inexperienced outside monkey. The first thing this new monkey did was to go up the ladder. Immediately the other monkeys beat him up.
After several beatings, the new member learned not to climb the ladder even though it never knew why.
A second monkey was substituted and the same series of events occurred. The first monkey that was substituted participated in the beating for the second substituted monkey. A third monkey was changed and the same series of events again occurred. The fourth was substituted and the beating was repeated. Finally the fifth monkey was replaced.
What was left was a group of five monkeys that even though never received a cold shower, continued to beat up any monkey who attempted to climb the ladder.
If it was possible to ask the monkeys why they would beat up all those who attempted to go up the ladder, I bet the answer would be: “I don’t know why, that is just how things are done around here.”
Conclusion:
Don’t follow other’s behavior, use your own mind
and think before you blindly follow.
May I exhort you not to miss the opportunity to share this article with other people you know or with whom you are affiliated as they might indeed be asking themselves: “Why are we continuing to do what it is that we are doing if there is a different and better way to perform somewhere out there.”
God gave each and everyone of us our own brain. He gave us total control and use of it. We alone make all of the decisions, on our own volition, as to what we allow into or out of it. Use your brain wisely and the world will step aside for you and what you are attempting to achieve.
