Author Stu Weber tells a wonderful story about what a truly good and godly man actually looks and acts like.\u00a0 <\/span>Listen to what he has to say.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat does a healthy man really look like?\u00a0 <\/span>This question was asked of me by a sixteen year-old high school sophomore who happens to live very near my own home.\u00a0 <\/span>This lad\u2019s parents divorced when he was only eight years old.\u00a0 <\/span>His father left and has never returned.\u00a0 <\/span>His stepdad, a tyrannical and poor excuse for a real man, treats him poorly.\u00a0 <\/span>Tells him to \u201cshut up\u201d all the time.\u00a0 <\/span>Tells him he\u2019s worthless, stupid, and will never amount to anything of significance.<\/span><\/p>\n

But just ask the boy about his dream and his eyes will light up.\u00a0 <\/span>This is what he will tell you: \u201cI\u2019d like to find out where my real dad lives.\u00a0 <\/span>And I\u2019d like to move in next door without him knowing who I was.\u00a0 <\/span>And–I\u2019d like to just become his friend<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span> Once I had become his friend, then maybe it would be OK for me to move on.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

This same young man who has had all kinds if difficulty in his life was asked to write an essay on the subject, \u201cWhat is a man?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span>The following is his brief but succinct essay–written by a boy who has never really been around a real man, never really seen one.\u00a0 <\/span>But I think there is something so inherent, so ingrained, so intrinsic, so fundamental, that even a young boy who has never seen it modeled can put it into words.\u00a0 <\/span>Here is what he wrote:<\/span><\/p>\n

A real man is kind.<\/span>
\nA real man is caring.<\/span>
\nA real man walks away from silly macho fights.<\/span>
\nA real man helps his wife.<\/span>
\nA real man helps his kids when they are sick.<\/span>
\nA real man doesn\u2019t run from his problems.<\/span>
\nA real man sticks to his word and keeps his promises.<\/span>
\nA real man is honest.<\/span>
\nA real man is not in trouble with the law.<\/span><\/p>\n

You see, this is one lonely boy\u2019s vision of a man who stays.\u00a0 <\/span>A man who is both an authority and under authority.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

It is a vision of a tender warrior.\u201d<\/span>
\nIt is a vision of a man of great character.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCharacter is what you are in the dark.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
