{"id":1314,"date":"2014-03-29T00:01:11","date_gmt":"2014-03-29T07:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/?p=1314"},"modified":"2014-04-21T14:48:47","modified_gmt":"2014-04-21T21:48:47","slug":"dont-burn-your-bridges-someday-you-may-need-to-recross-them","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/dont-burn-your-bridges-someday-you-may-need-to-recross-them\/","title":{"rendered":"Don&#8217;t Burn Your Bridges, Someday You May Need To Recross Them"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.4em;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/Dont-Burn-Your-Bridges.mp3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-474\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SEV-CampfireAudio-300x86.jpg\" width=\"270\" height=\"77\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SEV-CampfireAudio-300x86.jpg 300w, https:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SEV-CampfireAudio.jpg 375w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Other people and your personal relationships with them are extremely valuable assets to you and your future.\u00a0 Regardless of the circumstances surrounding the initial contact between you and another person in your life, such a meeting was not an accident.\u00a0 The facts are that such a particular person did not just happen along your pathway.\u00a0 God had to make lots of things, people, and events come together in His perfect timing in order for that individual to show up and enter into your personal sphere of influence.\u00a0 You meeting with them and your subsequent acquaintance and interaction that developed with them was orchestrated by a God who desired the two of you to meet and become friends.\u00a0 My point is simply that people just don\u2019t waltz into your life by accident.\u00a0 Our Creator God has a purpose and reason for all of your established relationships.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Remember, God tells us all that we need to know and how we need to conduct ourselves in order to live happy and content lives while we are here on this earth.\u00a0 It is all recorded in His Book, called The Holy Bible (Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth).\u00a0 I would further tell you that it is a very good and beneficial\u00a0 idea if you choose to read out of it every day.\u00a0 One of the major themes of God\u2019s Word is <b>love<\/b>.\u00a0 Love of others and love of self.\u00a0 Another theme is <b>forgiveness.\u00a0<\/b> God tells us to love and care for other people exactly as we would desire them to love and care for us.\u00a0 He calls this action The Golden Rule.\u00a0 God also tells us to forgive other people just as He has forgiven us.\u00a0 Sound advice wouldn\u2019t you agree?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b>He who cannot forgive, destroys the bridge over which he himself one day must pass.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Because The Lord Jesus forgave us for all of our sins and paid the full price of that forgiveness on Calvary\u2019s Cross with his own life through the spilling of HIS BLOOD,&#8230;then by example, we who believe in Him have no choice but to do the same for any person who trespasses against us!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">I once read a great short story about the blessings and benefits that flow back into a believer\u2019s life when they obediently follow the instruction of The Lord.\u00a0 Permit me to share the story with you:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">One Sunday afternoon, Doris Louise Seger opened the door of her church office so that she could practice a violin solo she was to play at that evening\u2019s service.\u00a0 She was shocked and broken-hearted to discover her precious violin smashed into hundreds of little pieces and scattered all over the office floor!\u00a0 Doris was crushed.\u00a0 She had received the violin fifty years earlier as a high school graduation present from her parents.\u00a0 With tear-filled eyes she thought,&#8230;.Who? Why? How can I ever forgive the person who did this?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">An investigation was launched to find the culprit.\u00a0 A week later the local police found and identified the confessed vandal.\u00a0 Doris wanted to speak with the reckless person who had destroyed her valuable heirloom instrument.\u00a0 When she saw the skinny, little, blond headed 11 year-old boy sitting next to his father on the sofa, she immediately understood that the real tragedy was not her shattered violin, but rather it was a young life that seemed headed for a more shattered future.\u00a0 Doris explained to the family what the violin had meant to her life and then she suddenly found herself saying,&#8230; \u201cI forgive you, son, and God will forgive you too,&#8230;if you will just ask Him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">A few days later, the little boy came to the pastor\u2019s office, and asked him rather hesitantly,&#8230; \u201cIs there any work that I can do at the church so that I can pay for a new violin for Mrs. Seger?\u201d\u00a0 At the sign of his repentant heart, the pastor immediately shared the Gospel of Christ with him and the boy received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior that very day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Doris purchased a new violin, but she later wrote, \u201cIt would never compare with this \u2018New Creature\u2019 in Christ Jesus that had just become a member of The Family of God&#8230;.I learned anew that God\u2019s Grace is sufficient to give me a forgiving heart&#8230;..regardless of what happens to me or any of my possessions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">God specifically tells us exactly how He wants us to live out our lives on this earth.\u00a0 It is all recorded in the Bible in The Book of Matthew, Chapter 6. verses 14-15.\u00a0 NKJV:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>\u00a0(14)\u00a0\u00a0\u201cFor if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"> <strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Father will also forgive you.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><strong>\u00a0(15) \u00a0But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"> <b>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 your Father forgive your trespasses.\u201d<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">God\u2019s Word doesn\u2019t get any clearer than that.\u00a0 You are to forgive others when they ask for your forgiveness&#8230;because &#8230;.that is exactly what Christ did for you over two thousand years ago in Jerusalem.\u00a0 When you forgive and forget the transgressions of other people against you and your life&#8230;.everyone wins, and you experience the joy and love that passes all understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
