font-size: 14px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/If-You-Truly-Do-Love-Someone-You-Will-Listen.mp3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-474\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SEV-CampfireAudio-300x86.jpg\" width=\"270\" height=\"77\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SEV-CampfireAudio-300x86.jpg 300w, https:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/SEV-CampfireAudio.jpg 375w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 270px) 100vw, 270px\" \/><\/a>How many times have you heard people, particularly people who know one another and who claim to be good friends with each other, say to each other&#8230;.\u201cI love you.\u201d?\u00a0 I will venture to say that you, much like myself, have heard that precious three word phrase uttered many, many times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">But have you heard this three-word phrase said between two different people and then observe those very same people speak harshly to one another, show complete and total disregard for each other, or worse of all fail to even listen to one another when a conversation is attempted between them?<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b>I think most folks misuse the phrase \u201cI love you\u201d all too often.<\/b>\u00a0 I think that most folks don\u2019t really understand the true meaning of those words.\u00a0 They frequently banter them about almost like a cute saying or a thoughtless response when they are speaking to other people.\u00a0 These extremely powerful words are discarded like pieces of rubbish whenever they are thoughtlessly used in incorrect context or improper situations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">God\u2019s Word, The Holy Bible, uses the word love throughout its entirety.\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Whenever it is used it is always in a context of serious meaning and conveys an emphatic point.\u00a0 Nowhere in the Holy Scripture is the word <\/span><i style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">love <\/i><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">used in a \u201cslang\u201d sense or as a \u201cquip\u201d response by and between other people.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Colleen Townsend Evans once said, <b><i>\u201cSilence need not be awkward or embarrassing, for to be with one you love, without the need for words, is a beautiful and satisfying form of communication.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">May I ask you,&#8230;Have you ever been with another person whom you greatly cared about or loved and ever enjoyed just \u201cbeing together\u201d within the presence of each other in total silence?\u00a0 What a beautiful thing it is.\u00a0 <\/span><b style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">It is as if God has placed two (or more) human beings physically together with His invisible Self in their midst.\u00a0 It is almost as if their individual thoughts penetrate each other\u2019s minds.\u00a0 No words are necessary.\u00a0 A wonderful feeling of love and care arises within each of the hearts involved.\u00a0 A feeling of warm emotional safety and security is experienced by and between the parties. \u00a0 It truly is a \u201cGod Moment.\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Parents, please allow me as a fellow parent to share with you some information that not only drives home my point about listening, but also gives you some good insight into \u201cloving\u201d those people who are closest to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">you, whether they are family, friends, or business associates.\u00a0 Think back&#8230;hopefully not too far&#8230; to the times when your children were small and would come running to you.\u00a0 They would all be chattering at once, in an attempt to get your undivided attention, wanting to talk about the exciting events they had experienced that day.\u00a0 Do you recall how wonderful it was for you to have them discuss and share with you their own feelings about the events?\u00a0 Joyful, enthusiastic sharing of information and emotions between individuals, particularly family members, is a blessed encounter.\u00a0 It can and will be either positive and\/or negative, depending on the circumstances.\u00a0 The positive situations are fun and exciting. However whenever the bad times are experienced your reaction needs to be changed.\u00a0 When your family members or close personal friends are hurting, physically or emotionally, most often they just need to be held, softly and appropriately touched.\u00a0 They need to have their heads stroked.\u00a0 They need to be comforted in your arms and caressed sometimes even to the point where they fall asleep.\u00a0 <b><i>Tenderness and understanding <\/i>is to be your gift to them. \u00a0<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b>Now remember, that which holds true for your children is equally true with your spouse!\u00a0 Most women\u2019s love language is far different than that of men.\u00a0 <\/b>Most women just need to be held, caressed, and reassured of your love for them.\u00a0 Security is a major concern to the hurting wife.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Often times, silence on your part, coupled with light and loving \u201ctouches\u201d and whispers of certainty and security will accomplish more than all the words you could conjure up and eloquently deliver.\u00a0 <b><i>If you really do love someone, you will always listen to what they are trying to communicate to you.<\/i><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">I would also like to inform you that the ways and means discussed above is also the way it should be handled by and between you and your Heavenly Father, God.\u00a0 <b>Whenever you are praying, thinking, or just being still,&#8230;listen.\u00a0 God answers prayer, but we don\u2019t always listen.\u00a0 <\/b>Never end a prayer and immediately get up and go do something else totally unrelated to your prayer.\u00a0 <b>At the conclusion of your prayer(s), <i>be still&#8230;<\/i>wait quietly and patiently, listen for a response from your Father.\u00a0<\/b> When you start practicing what I am telling you, you may well be surprised as to the wonderful additional blessings you begin to receive from your quiet prayer time.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Let\u2019s go back now to your family experiences and actions .<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b>Don\u2019t force your child to talk to you.\u00a0<\/b> Give him the respect and \u201cspace\u201d to remain silent.\u00a0 Sometimes children need to work out their own ideas and opinions in quiet before voicing them.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b>If you become insistent or demanding that your child tell you all about his feelings, concerns and unhappiness before he is ready mentally and physically to do so, you will never get to the point of being able to console or reconcile the issues that are bothering him.<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">While it is true that you, parent, are the authority, together with God, in your adolescent child\u2019s life, it will accomplish absolutely nothing if you become a \u201cdrill sergeant\u201d or worse a \u201cdictator\u201d\u00a0 to your child.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b>When your child does finally speak, be certain that you take time to listen intently, carefully, and kindly.\u00a0<\/b> When you do this, your child will know that he can talk to you whenever he wants or needs to, and you can rest assured that his silence is not rooted in suspicion or fear of you.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">We would all do well to read and then heed the sound advice that our God gives to us in the Bible inThe Book of James, Chapter 1, verses 19-20, NKJV:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Qualities Needed In Trials<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">(19) \u00a0 <b>\u201cSo then, my beloved brethren, let every man be <i>swift to hear, slow<\/i><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b><i>\u00a0to speak, slow to wrath;<\/i><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><i>(20) \u00a0 <\/i><b><i>for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Please remember as God explicitly tells us&#8230;..in The Book of 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, verses 4- 7, NKJV:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">(4) \u00a0 \u201cLove suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">parade itself, is not puffed up;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">(5)\u00a0 \u00a0 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">thinks not evil;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">(6) \u00a0 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">(7) \u00a0 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">things,\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">In short,&#8230;.<b><i>LOVE NEVER FAILS.<\/i>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Friends,&#8230;.listen to me, hear my words,&#8230;understand what I am telling you.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b>If you truly do love another person, then you will be a good and Godly example for them to observe and duplicate.<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Remember, the language of <i>silence is a language.<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
