You Still Have Plenty of Time Left

The number and size of your dreams and the amount of time you have left in which to accomplish them are all a matter of personal perspective and mental attitude. You become in life (regardless of where you happen to be in life) what you personally desire to become and what you decide to do. God has given each and every human being a brain and a body with which to work in order to accomplish the important things you want to accomplish or possess while you are alive here on earth. Yes, of course, while we age and our bodies begin to atrophy and wear out, there are more limitations to our physical strength and endurance, but the brain is the command and control center of your own physical existence and the body is in subjection to the brain. Who is really in charge of you?

Like it or not, here is a fact and truth of life: God gave you a body for one primary and very specific purpose and that is to mobilize your brain. Now hear me well, regardless of your personal circumstances, God has still given you the capability to perform,…at least to some degree. Your deciding not to perform is a direct insult to your Creator. Now listen, no matter how incapacitated you think you are, God has provided within you some quantity of extra “go-power” to get you through whatever it is that you are battling. There is always another door through which you can go. This is why there are no acceptable excuses to fail in life once you have become a born-again believer in Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior of the world.

What is your perspective? What are your personal plans and goals of today? You are not through. You are not planted,….you can change and for certain you can continue to grow to a higher level in life! Just don’t give up or quit.

Now if you just happen to be under 50 years of age, you have an entire lifetime remaining to be used waiting in front of you. And if you just happen to be over fifty there is still at least 30 more years of great positive production left in you that God can and will use, if you will but decide to use the gifts, talents, and experience you have accumulated up to this point in your life.

Permit me to give those of you readers or listeners who are approaching or who have already arrived at the rest stop of what is known as “Senior Citizenship” a little bit of personal advice as well as a warning: Don’t underestimate the length of time you still may have left to live!

Permit me to make my point through relating to you a quick story about a man who considered himself to be a senior citizen and who thought that he was all washed up, was of no further use to society, and had come to the end of his productive years of life. It seems he had taken a Caribbean cruise during which he attended a group lecture regarding how to develop and maintain a positive mental attitude, how to continue to be productive in your senior years, and how to set new goals for achieving new dreams.

This man completed listening to the lecture and found himself to be highly excited and motivated. Enthusiastically he approached the lecturer in order to offer his thanks and personal remarks for what he had just taken in during the talk. He said to the presenter,…“Man that was a great speech! I just wish I had been lucky enough to have heard that message thirty years ago! If I had, I could have died a multi-millionaire.”

The lecturer guessed the attendee to be somewhere near 55 to 57 years of age. The speaker asked the man, “How old are you?” He replied with a broad grin,“sixty-eight.”

The speaker instantly replied with a challenge,…“Then you are not too old to begin! You look so young and healthy, you just might live to be ninety-eight–That’s thirty years from now! Start today, or twenty years from now you’ll be moaning, ‘Why didn’t I start twenty years ago when I was still young?’ ”

You see, friends, the older you are, the more people skills you should have developed, the more experience you should have accumulated, and the more personal relationships you should have established. You are much more prepared for success in your later years than you ever are in your inexperienced unseasoned youth. It is the wise senior who understands that fact and uses it to his own advantage.

Fact: You are never too old to start over!

Scientists tell us that it only takes one billionth of a volt of electricity to make a mental decision. Permit me to exhort you to spend one billionth of a volt of your own electrical energy and make a new decision to begin again! It is never too late! The master author on life’s success, Mr. Napoleon Hill, claims that from all of his life studying highly successful people, the one undeniable fact that stood out was that men accomplished far more in their lives after they turned 60 than they did before they reached that age.

When you reach that point at which you personally conclude that there simply is no acceptable excuse for failing, then you will be eager to discover new opportunities into which you may get involved and begin building and achieving your new dreams.

Remember, all great success begins with a decision that you are going to become successful.

Now, if you are so advanced in years that you cannot reasonably imagine yourself living long enough to complete your dream,…then what is there left for you to do?…Never give up on yourself and your own dreams! Do not consider the time resources that God has given you–but rather consider the time resources God has available for you to use!

At age eighty, an old farmer undertook to plant a new apple orchard because he knew that God Almighty would provide the time needed to bring the new apple trees to full fruitfulness….
for…Someone,…Someday,… to enjoy and benefit therefrom!

It is always too soon to quit. And it is never too late to start over!
