{"id":417,"date":"2013-01-01T00:01:54","date_gmt":"2013-01-01T08:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/?p=417"},"modified":"2015-03-11T11:02:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-11T18:02:50","slug":"let-the-stories-begin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/let-the-stories-begin\/","title":{"rendered":"Let The Stories Begin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\"><b><a href=\"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Let-the-Stories-Begin.mp3\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-499\" src=\"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/AudioIcon-300x114.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"114\" srcset=\"http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/AudioIcon-300x114.jpg 300w, http:\/\/davesevern.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/AudioIcon.jpg 323w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/b>I was born and raised in the State of Idaho.\u00a0 I grew up with a fishing pole in one hand and some type of <\/span><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">a gun in the other.\u00a0 My mother and \u00a0father both were outdoors people.\u00a0 They taught me and my older sister and younger brother how to enjoy and live in the wild outdoor country of the Rocky Mountains.\u00a0 All three of us kids learned survival skills in any kind of climate or geography. \u00a0We learned how to hunt and fish and be able to live off the land if necessary.\u00a0 It was good, sound and very valuable training.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">My entire family loved the wild Idaho outdoors. We were most comfortable and secure growing up in four distinct and separate seasons of the year in the plains and mountain country of the northwestern United States.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Crackling, popping, and aromatic camp fires were a very natural and on-going part of my growing up life.\u00a0 As a matter of fact, they still are.\u00a0 I learned a life time of knowledge, common sense, resourcefulness, and \u00a0truth just sitting around a burning campfire and listening to people talk.\u00a0 I also learned how to spin a \u201cyarn\u201d or tell a bear story or two. I received my own personal Severn Family Master\u2019s Degree by just sitting around the fires listening to my parents and their friends pass on the truths of life, other stories, exciting tales, family history, patriotism and lots of other wild Americana.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Since this new website is going to be a summation of my life\u2019s work, I believe it should best be shared, at least in my Blog, with the background sounds, settings, and context of a roaring campfire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Do you hear the sounds of the fire?\u00a0\u00a0 Imagine the roaring blaze and woodsy smell of logs burning, snapping and crackling.\u00a0 Warm air surrounds you.\u00a0 Maybe a golden brown marshmallow or two on a stick is being held close to the edge of the heat, waiting for just the right moment of perfection roasting before it is plucked from the stick and popped into someone\u2019s mouth.\u00a0 Do you hear the laughter of friends and acquaintances blending into the sounds of the burning logs? Make no mistake about it, the warmth and comfort of a friendly campfire is the stuff that makes for great and lasting friendships.\u00a0 It can become the glue that holds together and strengthens those personal relationships among family, friends, associates, and, yes, even strangers.\u00a0 Campfires have a way of bringing people together.\u00a0 If you are able to blend in some musical tunes via instruments or voices or preferably both, then the best of all worlds can come together.\u00a0 The sharing of thoughts and feelings and all other emotions freely flows in the shared warmth of a burning log fire in an out door fire-pit, nestled in a secluded spot under a star-lit night.\u00a0 It is simply magical.\u00a0 It will always produce those \u201cmoments to remember.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Anyone in attendance may start the story-telling or story-sharing.\u00a0 There is no pecking order or protocol as to who should start or end the melodious moments.\u00a0 Truth, stretched-truth, any kind of stories are all totally acceptable.\u00a0 \u201cYarns,\u201d family history, \u201cTall-Tales,\u201d bear stories, personal testimonies, \u201cSongs,\u201d poetry, and anything else you may wish to express are all acceptable and desirable subject matter around Poppa Bear\u2019s Campfire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The purpose of our time together around the fire is simply to get to know one another a whole lot better than we presently do&#8230;no matter how long we have been together.\u00a0 Personal relationships, if they are to grow stronger and to last longer, must have \u201ctime-together\u201d as the major ingredient for the recipe to work.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">The campfire will be burning every week from here on out.\u00a0 Your spot will always be reserved for you real close to the fire.\u00a0 Your warm heart is always welcome to come sit with us every Saturday throughout the year.\u00a0 All you need to bring is yourself, an open heart and open mind.\u00a0 There will be just you and me and my special Friend, The Lord Jesus.\u00a0\u00a0 Anyone else who chooses to show up will always be welcome.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Warmth, love, care and trust are just a few of the many important things that get shared around a campfire.\u00a0 It is my desire to continue sharing those,&#8230;and other things&#8230;around the warmth of this computerized campfire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px;\">Get snuggled into the blanket and cuddled near the warmth and love of Poppa Bear\u2019s campfire.\u00a0 Get comfortable.
