Well today is it. It is the day of final closing on my riverside estate in Spokane, Washington. My family and I, together with the help of some wonderful friends, have been working almost around the clock getting the house all cleaned up and emptied of all furnishings and personal possessions. It has been a Herculean effort over the past three weeks of continual motion. I had no idea how much “stuff” a single family of five could have possibly accumulated over a 25 year period of time.

We are “Westerners.” We are outdoors people. We live in an agrarian environment. It takes a lot of time, effort, and equipment to properly maintain and keep up with the daily demands of a 145 acre piece of ground situated in a wetland environment with an 8200 square foot home, and related outbuildings. It is beautiful piece of property, but no place for a unknowledgeable neophyte who has no tractors or equipment.

The pride of ownership causes one to maintain and care for those wonderful blessings that God has bestowed upon us. To be a good steward is to be obedient to God’s instructions. Slothfulness will never be rewarded. Most often times it takes a very healthy cash flow to be a good steward….and I am not just referring to personal ownership. Owning something is only half of the equation. Taking good care of what you own is the other half. Meeting those two divine requirements is what arrests the attention of your Creator and causes Him to want to further bless your obedient efforts.

I am just finishing my morning cup of coffee and then will be on my way to my former home to take up the one last load before handing over the keys to the new owners. It is indeed a bitter-sweet moment in time. It is kind of like a “swan-song” event. It is great that the house has sold, but it is tough leaving all those wonderful memories. However, we all must face life and it’s events as it happens to and with us all the days of our lives. God’s principle of leaving and entering is in full effect all of the time. All through our individual lives each of us will experience leaving one phase of our lives and entering into another new phase of life. How you leave one phase of life will be the basis and foundation as to how you enter into a new phase. Life is always dynamic. It is always moving. It is moving either forward or backward, up or down, or from lower to higher or vice-versa. Nothing in life just stands still and waits for you to catch up. Everything in life is either growing or dying. The direction of movement and growth is totally up to you, the individual and the choices you make or fail to make.

The sum total of your your life will be the accumulated summation of the decisions, choices, speech, actions, and manner of life you personally take or live on a daily basis. If you leave one stage of life with a positive and highly expectant attitude thinking and speaking only of the good things that are or are going to happen to you, then that will be the same manner and basis as to how you enter into your new phase of life. Leave well,…Enter well. As you enter a new season or phase of life in a good, healthy, and positive fashion and way, then you will be well ahead of the curve and immediately begin to produce good and newly positive results in a higher and greater capacity than you were able to produce in the prior phase which you just completed.

The most highly productive and successful men and women all agree that what a person produces and creates with the use of their personal lives here on earth is primarily a direct function of their having and using a positive mental attitude while serving and caring for other people with whom they are actively involved.

So,…that being said,…I am taking this “last load” from a season of my life that has drawn to a close on into a new phase of my life that will in fact be based at another new home here in the greater Spokane, Washington area. And since I am leaving this prior phase of my life, with all of its sweet and sometimes bitter experiences and memories, on a very great high and positive mental plane, I can assuredly expect, because of God’s life-living principles,…to fully expect to begin achieving even greater results in my life as it is initiated here in new season and location, and at a higher and greater level than I lived it in the past.

I am staying in the greater Spokane area because I cannot leave my children and grandchildren, my friends, or my church. They are far too valuable to me to ever be separated from them. I have worked long and hard just getting all of my possessions for which there is sufficient room in my new home moved to a much different geographical location and physical environment. Everything will work out just fine. I am totally confident that it will. I am not looking back, I am not questioning what has happened in my life, I am not complaining. I am very thankful and most grateful for all of the events, circumstances, and people that God is permitting to enter my life and happen to me. He makes no mistakes and His timing is always perfect. I am trusting my Lord for all of my needs as together we move forward and upward in my continuing life’s journey. I just know that God is not through with me yet!

So with this one last load,…this one last trailer full of possessions,…and my own heart and mind,…I jump start on this new adventure as a senior citizen into a land of a lot of unknowns. I begin yet again in my life by choosing to travel on a remote by-way as poet Robert Frost aptly said “on a road less traveled.” I am stepping off into my exciting new future without fear or trepidation, but rather with total calm peace of mind and confidence in the provision of my God to meet and fill all of my needs,… present and future,…through His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

As I have told you many times before,….highly successful people do not need to have all of the answers to all of the possible questions that have risen or that will arise in the future. All they need to do is to begin their journey just right from where they presently are using only the talents and gifts they presently possess and begin doing what they are attempting to do as best they are able. God will take care of and fulfill all of the rest of their needs.

Peace and Love to All of You………………….Poppa Bear
