Can You Handle The Real Truth?

Facebook Twitter

Remember when I first opened this website, www.davesevern.com? Remember the initial article that mentioned what would be included in this website…when I said no restrictions would be placed on the subject matter published in this blog? Well get ready. I am about to walk out on what I sense will be some “thin ice” for some of you readers and/or listeners.

Now you may ask, why?…Why would I push the envelope and discuss some heated and controversial topic material when I didn’t have to do it? Well, because I think the material is so critically important and is so absolutely truthful that it needs to be read or heard by everyone in our country….And,…with an open mind,…who is actually seeking the truth.

As preliminary discussion, may I respectfully remind you that I am an American. I am a Viet Nam era military veteran. I am a Christian Believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a serious student of world history. I own and operate my own business. And I am a gun owner fully capable of using a firearm for it’s intended purpose.

But common sense and a good moral compass within your own heart and mind are prerequisites for anyone who possess a gun. Actor Samuel L. Jackson said it well regarding the violence and death that has been wrought on America over the past year. Regarding the solution to this massive problem in America, he said: “I don’t think it is about more gun control. I grew up in the south with guns everywhere and we never shot anyone. This shooting is about people who aren’t taught the value of life.”

History records openly and clearly that we, as Americans, are free only because some other person at some point in time was willing to sacrifice their own life by spilling their own blood on a battlefield somewhere in the world. As a business owner, I know that Freedom Has a Price Tag!

Man has been incapable of living together with other people in continual peace since the beginning of time. The world’s first murderer came out of the Garden of Eden….Cain slew Abel. Consequently, no reasonably intelligent person could possibly think that man can be pressured, cajoled, or legislated into always peacefully getting along with his fellow man.

Peace, as recorded by history is not negotiated,…it is fought for and won! Peace and Freedom has always been paid for in human blood. It has been that way from the beginning of time.

Our founding fathers of this great nation were wise and learned men. They were mostly Christian men who understood world history and biblical truths. They wrote our Constitution based on what they knew from history would be required of the good men and women who were here and risking their very lives establishing this country.

Every American citizen has been guaranteed the personal rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Included in those privileges is the right to keep and bear arms as provided by the second amendment (1791) to the U.S. Constitution. It reads,…“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Now please hear me well, and listen to my heart. Countless lives have been sacrificed for the freedoms we as Americans have enjoyed over the 239 years of our history since the War of Independence was fought and won in 1776. The great price of freedom is to always be respected, honored and celebrated at every opportunity. All Americans should be grateful for the human sacrifice that has been freely given by those freedom-loving Americans over the course of our history. It is the soldier, the military combatant, who gives us our freedom,…not the intellectual or the politician!

I received an E mail today, June 20, 2015 from a dear friend in Washington D.C. He was forwarding it from a previous E-mail one of his friends had forwarded along to him.

I do not know the author of the original e-mail.

Permit me to tell you that in light of all of the mass killing that is going on in our country and around the world today, I believe such an excellent article should be read or heard by all Americans. And so I am sharing it with you today.

I am passing along this same E-mail in the loving hopes that it will open some hearts, minds, and eyes, of those poor souls who fail to understand the personal responsibility of being a free American. If we are to ever be able to live together in love and peace, the truth and the power of our God in heaven must be at all times at the forefront of our minds.

In view of all of the efforts expended, resources consumed, blood shed, and lives sacrificed,…just so that we Americans today may enjoy the benefits purchased for us by our ancestors,…I think it is high time that we as free Americans stop all of this political nonsense of shadow boxing with our known enemies and stand up and take charge of the horrifying events and activities being inflicted on our nation, its citizenry, and its institutions both here and abroad. Battles cannot and will not be won within the confines of a governmental assembly room. In order to win a battle for life and for freedom, soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines must be in force and on the ground, wherever the battles are being fought. Period! There are no exceptions to this rule and there can be no substitute for complete victory.

The Founding Fathers of the United States of America full well recognized that truth of life, and so made Constitutional Provision for it as this nation was fought for and won from the British. Nothing has changed from then until the present. It takes “Guts” to succeed and it takes “Mental Toughness” to fight and keep fighting until you are victorious.

Hear these precious words of truth and wise counsel. Remember these words the next time you go to the ballot box:

As the Supreme Court hears arguments for and against the Chicago, IL, Gun Ban, I offer you another stellar example of a letter, that places the proper perspective on what a gun means to a civilized society.

Interesting take and one you don’t hear much… Read this eloquent and profound letter and pay close attention to the last paragraph of the letter…..

“The Gun Is Civilization”

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it.

In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact
through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.

The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we’d be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger’s potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat – it has no validity when most of a mugger’s potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that’s the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there’s the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don’t constitute
lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.

The gun is the only weapon that’s as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn’t work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn’t both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don’t do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I’m looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don’t carry it because I’m afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn’t limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation…And that’s why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced.
